They’ve long been the bastion of men: pedestrian crossings. Each one showcasing a blatantly sexist pair of male suit pants and shoes. Enough’s enough say a group of Surry Hills residents.

That was over 18 months ago, when they contacted Sydney City Council to do something about it.

Here is the Pedestrian Crossing commissioned by local artist Geneve Scarab that will become the new norm: a strong businesswoman in a pair of pumps on the way to a meeting where she’s on her way to taking over the world.

When Geneve speaks she is deeply pasionate, “We’ve modelled her after Amal Clooney. She’s a full-time human rights lawyer. We don’t know where she finds the time but she does. And one thing’s for sure, ain’t no car gonna stop this modern day Wonder Woman. She literally stops traffic.”

Unsuccessful designs included a 6 inch stripper heels with fish in the platform heel.
