A drunken Surry Hills man has brought the suburb into disrepute after breaking his heel during wild Cup celebrations at the Clock Hotel.

More to the point, he embarrassed his girlfriend who was having a couple of quiet drinks with friends at the time.

“It’s disgraceful behaviour,” said Sarah, 26, a local designer. “What kind of a person goes out, gets drunk, and breaks their heel? How drunk would you have to be?”

The woman went on to say that the two would have a “sit down”.

Some social commentators feel the man’s actions usher in a new era of feminism where it’s no longer women who break their heel on Cup day.

Prominent feminist Germain Beer said, “if a woman can break her heel, why can’t a man? This is a beautiful example of equality.”
