A Surry Hills woman was trapped in a sinkhole on Arthur Street this morning on her way to work resulting in her spilling her morning coffee all over a new blouse.

“It was white and it was beautiful and I just bought it!” sobbed an inconsolable Nancy Hirst, 25, a social media consultant.

The woman was in such a state she was forced to call the fire department to rescue her. The Darlinghurst fire department was at the scene in minutes, and local firemen consider the woman lucky to be alive.

“We’re just glad she called us when she did. The situation could have been a lot worse. It’s moments like this that made me want to be a fireman.” said Ricky Walford. “And also check me out in the 2019 Fireman’s Calendar. I’m September, and I’m ripped.”
