If you’re Australian and you’ve seen the latest commercial for Air New Zealand you’ll smell a rat. Or specifically a goose. You may not be able to put your finger on it but you’re left with the unmistakable feeling that something’s awry. That’s when it hits you. The Kiwis cast a goose voiced by Bryan Brown to represent Australians.

This is an outrage.

Why this hasn’t caused an international incident I don’t know.

It can’t be more clear. A goose waltzes around the cabin of an Air New Zealand plane making a nuisance of himself, asking for champagne and arrogantly insisting the viewer has ‘food envy’.

Bryan Brown was not informed he would be voicing the character of a goose.

If you know any Kiwis. And I mean really know Kiwis. You’ll know they secretly think Australians are a nation of morons. A country blessed with natural resources we squander. Too much wealth. No idea how to spend it. Over taxed. Over governed.

And obviously they’re right but it’s not their place to highlight our collective misgivings.

How dare they?

The Surry Hills Times calls on the Australian Government to address this disrespect immediately.
