A bungled attempt by would-be thieves to ramraid the Commonwealth Bank on Crown Street occurred at approximately 3pm today.

The three men were described by the vehicle owner, local man ‘Jugsy’, 42,  to be “Icy” in appearance. After forcibly removing Jugsy from his vehicle, a much-loved rascal scooter named ‘Betsy’ the men attempted to ram the Commonwealth Bank.

Constable Constance from Surry Hills Police Area Command stated, “After the automatic doors slid open the men crashed the vehicle into the back wall of the premises dislodging some paper cups. After performing a 14 point turn inside the bank the men then made a non-hasty getaway, finally abandoning the vehicle 100 metres down the road.”

The men are still currently at large, anyone with knowledge of their whereabouts is urged to contact Crimestoppers.
