A well-intentioned initiative from Sydney City Council to provide advice to burgeoning young entrepreneurs fell hopelessly flat amongst the young entrepreneurs of Surry Hills who we really only interested in how to make sourdough.

The Surry Hills Times spoke to Kieth, the middle-aged business guru inside the caravan who was visibly frustrated after enduring hours of endless questions regarding how to open an organic sourdough bakery with zero carbon footprint.

Still more residents seemed fixated on how to make and sell cold-drip filtered coffee in a pop-up studio where all profits went to charity.

A further parcel of young capitalists were interested solely in how to make craft beer. Not necessarily as a business – it just seemed to be an obsession.

And naturally a handful were focused on how to make vinyl how to make and press vinyl ‘old school’.

“My God! Next time I’ll be prepared,” said Kieth, who was already in the process of hiring a book from Surry Hills Library on knitting.

Kieth was horribly mismatched with the locals whose interests were not aligned with his.

A shaken Kieth, leaned forward and asked the Surry Hills Times in hushed voice “What’s a tote bag?”

Kieth went on to finish his story which provided the only bright moment in an otherwise forgettable day:

“Whatever it is, one guy wanted to open a Tote Bag Shop. I suggested the name ‘Totes’. He hugged me so I think I did good.”
