In a stunning move, Woolloomooloo residents are to boycott water in protest over the underground construction that takes place every morning between 1am and 4am, thanks to Sydney Water.

“Something stinks about this. And it’s not just the bureaucrats. Now it’s us too,” said business efficiency consultant Mike, 34.

“We all smell as bad as each other, so it’s not too bad. But when I get to work, my colleagues are taken aback. I don’t get invited to lunch anymore.”

“I miss showers, but I’m a university student. I don’t think anyone’s noticed.” said Zoe, 24.

“Wow. Bottled water is expensive,” said struggling filmographer Nick Plack, 46.

The residents liken themselves to the models in the ‘Derelict’ campaign. For them, the protest is not just fashion. It is a way of life.

But in all seriousness, this is a dire situation. Hundreds of residents, probably thousands, are adversely affected by this mismanaged project.

An actual quote from resident Ellie: “The noise from the screaming rock saws between 1am and 4am is like being being is a dentist’s chair without the anaesthetic.”

Alex Greenwich MP, Member for Sydney, has agreed to lodge a PETITION in NSW Parliament asking for better management of this issue by Sydney Water, among other things.
