The 2012 film ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ features the evil genius Bane plotting to destroy Gotham from beneath the city, where construction rages on throughout the early hours.

That may explain Sydney Water’s decision to do exactly that.

Indeed the bureaucrats surrounding this have created a mouse trap of red tape insisting the works must be done from 1am each morning.

“It just doesn’t make sense, why would Sydney City Council allow this madness? My only explanation is that they’re under the spell of Bane, played by the deeply charismatic Tom Hardy,” said one resident and film buff, Derek 32.

Asked for comment, Bane granted us a 2 hour interview to outline his evil manifesto, all of which was unintelligible due to his unwieldy, muffling mask.

But in all seriousness, this is a dire situation. Hundreds of residents, probably thousands, are adversely affected by this mismanaged project.

An actual quote from resident Ellie: “The noise from the screaming rock saws between 1am and 4am is like being being is a dentist’s chair without the anaesthetic.”

Alex Greenwich MP, Member for Sydney, has agreed to lodge a PETITION in NSW Parliament asking for better management of this issue by Sydney Water, among other things.
