A woman’s hogging of the armrest at Verona Cinema has been labelled “Toxic Femininity”: many believe the woman’s emasculating subjugation of her boyfriend has taken the cause of women too far with some seeing it as reverse sexism.
The woman, Sarah, 27, a designer from Surry Hills, was unrepentant. “I lived through the hashtag metoo movement of 2018, so as far as I’m concerned it’s my time. It’s our time. It’s time for women to hog the armrest.”
Sarah was asked if this brand of feminism and equality translates to equal pay. “Of course women should receive same pay as men, but am I going to pay for a movie ticket? Is that what you’re asking me? I’m sooo offended! Of course men should pay! What are you crazy? I’m not paying for a movie ticket! I’m the woman! He’s the man! Have you lost your mind?
The boyfriend was too scared to comment.
He was forced to watch ‘On the Basis of Sex’.
