The stellar series ‘Breaking Bad’ took the manufacturing of ice to the forefront of people’s minds, popularising the manufacturing of methamphetamines also known as ‘ice’ on an industrial scale.
It shows anti-hero Walter White cooking up large sheets of blue ice into a glass-like substance to be shattered, broken up and sold on the streets.
Prior to that point the product looks and feels exactly like a pane of blue glass.
Terry Watson, an enterprising glazier from Surry Hills, knew exactly that. He has now amassed a fortune by transporting methamphetamines around the country in his unassuming 1997 Toyota ute.
The distinctive blue colouration on the panes of glass went unnoticed for several years in and around the streets of Surry Hills.
Only those in the know we were aware of the brilliant ruse. Terry was only exposed last month when he was involved in a side-on collision resulting in several ‘sheets’ of ice shattering on Cleveland Street.
At that moment his ute was quickly set upon by dozens of ice addicts who poured out of the Coles nearby.
Word quickly spread and the mass of humanity became overwhelming, shutting down streets for hours.
The effected addicts returned to their home, the Coles on the corner of Baptist and Cleveland where they partied for days.
The manager of the Coles was not available for comment but witnesses say staff got involved.
The Coles is now open 24 hours.
Terry is due the face court next month.
