Cronulla captain Paul Gallen says he’s considering playing on in 2019 and beyond after being offered a 12 year extension by the Cronulla Sharks, with an option to play on for another 5 years.
The Sharks stalwart has demanded he be judged on form — not his age. Speaking exclusively with The Surry Hills Times on Wednesday, Gallen revealed he may play again in 2019 provided he can maintain his form that see him at the top of the SuperCoach statistics year in year out.
Gallen is a former captain and representative of the New South Wales State of Origin team. He has also been the vice captain of the Australian national team and has played his whole NRL career to date with the Sharks, with whom he won the 2016 NRL Premiership.
He is currently NRL’s oldest player.
When the Surry Hills Times pointed out this fact, Gallen immediately concluded the interview, opened a packet of digestives and watched an episode of Murder She Wrote.
