If you’ve been watching 4 Corners you’ll have noticed a disturbing scene, where Walkley Award winning journalist Sarah Ferguson presents while at times leaning on a bar table.

This begs the question: has the ABC turned into a fully stocked 24 hour bar in order for notoriously heavy drinking journalists to avoid lockout laws?

Some suspect the ABC has turned into a 24 hour bar, not just to bypass lockout laws, but to aid the notoriously tight ABC budget, ever-shrinking under the Liberal government.

It begs a further question: how much pressure are journalists under?

Behind closed doors ABC executives are said to be worried. “They’ve been getting worse.”

Some staffers say that Ferguson has gone from a glass of champagne after work, to next-level on-air boozing.

One ABC manager was asked whether journalists drinking on air is appropriate.

He refused to comment.

Moreover one must ask, is it appropriate for the ABC’s flagship investigative program, funded by the Australian Taxpayer to be promoting, all be it through apathy, excessive drinking.

“We all love Sarah’s hard-hitting style. Who could forget Ferguson’s total evisceration of Mathew Johns in a wonderful public execution that won her a Walkley Award. Sarah plays judge, jury and executioner. That’s just who she is.”

Now, it would seem, the focus is on Ferguson herself.

Sarah Ferguson was unavailable for comment.
