A young girl’s obsession with Instagram went to a whole new level in Surry Hills yesterday.
Maddison Pembroke, 19, used her father’s credit card to hire a Surry Hills based production company to shoot one still image of her sashimi at Toko restaurant.
The full day’s shoot required a crew of 35 with three large trucks and ironically a catering van.
The Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki was hired especially for the shoot.
“It needs more intensity”, was Hayao’s main piece of directorial advice from behind the lens.
As such, the chefs went through 384 salmon before the perfect one was found.
Asked whether she was happy with the shoot Maddison was delighted.
“This will definitely get me more followers,” said a dizzily happy Maddison. “The salm (sic) looks sick! I can’t thank Hayao enough.”
Asked what the sashimi tasted like, the girl responded:
“Oh I don’t eat raw fish. That’s gross. But shooting it for Insta? That’s a thing.”
